Re: ETSY Questions

Hi Everyone!
Thank you for starting this thread Stephanie!

I have a question regarding sales tax. I know CA buyers and things shipped in the state get charged tax, but what happens if someone from out of state buys an item as a gift to be shipped in California? I haven't had this happen, but just wondering if anyone has encountered this situation and what the process is to include the tax (invoice?new listing?).

Re: ETSY Questions

I am new to this group and al pretty new to Etsy. I received an e-mail about the Spring craft show for teams. How does that work and what do I need to do?

Thanks,
~Tricia

Re: ETSY Questions

Hi Tricia,
I saw the Etsy email, too and I'm probably not going to be much help here, because I haven't done any craft shows. :) But, the first highlighted discussion on our team page is for an upcoming event at Crafted! It sounds like a lot of fun! Contact Stephanie!
Also, go to the top of the page "Community" and click "Events" (this will be the same as the email) and scroll down to the L.A. event and click "Sign Up" - don't worry, you won't be signing up yet, you have to confirm first. Go to the CFAM link under the title and it will show you upcoming events. I'm sure there's an easier way to get to that info. I hope that helps and made sense. :)

Re: ETSY Questions

I am looking for a photographer to shoot product and look books.

I have tried to do the photography myself which brings me to tears on a weekly basis. Read all the websites, blogs, how to's. Bought a Canon Rebel. Took a photography class. Cried. Read all the websites and how to's again. Followed step by step on how to set up a cyc in your home. Cried. Bought a macro lens, white tent box and lights. Reread even more websites and youtube. Bought Styrene. Cried more.

The shots are too dark, fuzzy and just awful. I know my businesses lack luster sales are a direct result since the people who do buy all say the necklaces are much nicer in person.

I've maxed out my credit cards buying supplies, marketing, office expenses and such so I would love to find someone you know who is still a little green and would be able to work for a very small fee (PLUS LILAHV PRODUCT!!!).

I need product shots, look books on what will likely be a 3 per year basis and basic help in setting up a rudimentary studio in my office for any one offs between shoots.

The product shots are most urgent then I can schedule a look book photo shoot day at the beach or something in summer.

Do you have anyone who would be interested? A referral in the area?

Have a lovely day!

Re: ETSY Questions

A question to the jewelry makers:
When making a line of bracelets (and rings for that matter) what sizes do you make? Do you make a certain number in each length of 7", 7.25", 7.5", etc?
I know I can always do custom work, but I have a show coming up in a month. Thanks!

Re: ETSY Questions

Hi Eileen,
Regarding your question on whether you would need to charge tax for an out-of-state purchase that is to be mailed to CA -- the answer is yes. You would charge the rate where your business is set up. I had asked this question to BOE and that was their answer; but they also said any other vendor must query the BOE - with their own details - to get their own response that you keep as reference in the event of an audit.

Re: ETSY Questions

Hi All,
I've been on Etsy for about a year. I have no idea why you would have a Treasury. What is the purpose and how does it help promote your shop?
Thanks,
Mary
