Still no sales since a long time...

Hey everyone,
I'm new here; I've sold only 3 object since I oppened my shop. I sold them at the very beginning.
But now, I really can't sell anything more and I'm getting less and less motivated each day, which is bad because I really enjoy creating jewelry!
So if you could give me some advice, it would be very kind <3

Re: Still no sales since a long time...

Hang in there, I know the feeling, only 2 sales for me since Oct 6, 2011. Everyone keeps telling me to add more items and promote and be patient. Some days I feel like what is the point, other days I am motivated. I say keep making the jewelry and do what you enjoy, sales will come!

Don't feel bad - I haven't had ANY sales yet, and I've been open for a month yesterday! Just hang in there and keep reading the blogs, articles, and staying in touch with your teams - we'll help you through this. I think your things are very interesting and unique, and I'm sure you'll have some more sales before long. I find that if I stay active on Etsy, it comes back to me in various ways - I've even had people from the teams I'm on come and look at my shop, just as I just now looked at yours. So stay in touch and try to stay motivated - I know it's hard. You're not in this alone, there are a lot of us that are looking for sales. I'm still looking for my first one, it should come any time now, I hope.

Re: Still no sales since a long time...

Believe me the sales were down for most everyone I believe. I have a couple of booths in 2 antique malls and sales for November were half what they were in months previous. It isn't just here on Etsy.

If it were not for my antique sewing buttons, vintage patterns, vintage fabric, lace vintage Jewelry and other small items, I wouldn't have had much at all!

Good luck in December to everyone, have faith and believe in your product and your selves!

Re: Still no sales since a long time...

I'm not an expert but this is what I noticed:
You need to improve your photos. They are dark which makes it difficult to see the lovely details in your jewelry. Recently read that jewelry should be against a white background. I like the props, but don't think they should be the first photo.

If you want to sell in the US, suggest you also add metric measurements to your descriptions. Also, for me the description came up in French.

Relevancy is VERY IMPORTANT: Your item description should be at least 3 words and should be repeated in your tags. Use multiple words in your tags because people search using multiple tags.

Under your banner, in the info section, add more information about your shop and jewelry. Don't waste this space.

Check what other shops are doing. You don't have to copy but just get ideas of the kind of info they are giving.

Check out 'marketmyshop.com.' It's a good blog with lots of tips, as well as read other team and forum threads where people are asking questions.

When you list, check Etsy and google to see if your items are being found. If not, keep adjusting your titles and descriptions.

Know that it takes time to get your name out there in the internet galaxy. Just keep learning and working at it. Don't get discouraged.

Adding new items, renewing and expanding your section will improve your chances of getting found. Check your Etsy stats when you do this. Register with Google Analytics (stats are more accurate). You can do this through Etsy. Both will help you to track what people are look at, if you are being found, which countries, et.

Good luck and Happy Holiday Season.

Re: Still no sales since a long time...

Correction: the prop photos should NOT be the first photo. A white background should be the first photo.

This may be a cultural perspective. So check out how jewelry is displayed in your country, other countries and then compare that to the US. Perhaps photos reflecting different cultural preferences should be displayed.

Etsy is ranked #1 for selling handmade goods. I like selling on Etsy, but getting noticed, getting found is challenge. You have to promote aggressively but smartly.

Re: Still no sales since a long time...

You have barely started! I didn't make a sale until 2 months after opening then I waiting another month before my second! Also, there is soooo much jewelry out there. It'll take a lot of time. Try buying into a BNR/BNS to get promoted more.

One more thing, Yastiss, which I may not had made clear. Keep the French description, but add an English translation under it.
