I'm challenging myself to try new techniques and *gasp* try adapting patterns (this is not something I generally do, beyond doing a different style sleeve from one version). I have just finished putting on some hand embroidery on my Easter dress and I hope to be able to use the techniques I learn on the things I sell here.
So, I will be making a dress for myself out of the New Look pattern 6264, the B version (link:
http://images.patternreview.com/sewing/patterns/newlook/2014/6264/6264.jpg) and I was hoping to do either (by hand) shirring or smocking around the waste rather than the ties. This will be the first time I do this sort of thing, and I was just curious to see what people thought about the idea and if you have any advice, such as which technique you prefer and how much I should do.
