Heavy duty snaps and snap tool

Hi! I'm new to this team and excited to post my first thread.

I am making fabric shopping cart handle covers (in the prototype phase) and want to enclose them with heavy duty snaps instead of Velcro.

I've only ever sewn on little snaps before and that won't work for going through a few layers of fleece and cotton plus they wouldn't be sturdy enough.

Where can I find heavy duty snaps that are used for closing wallets and purses? Also, what kind of tool do you recommend for putting them on?

Thanks so much!

HI Carissa. Ive been using these. You need an awl to poke holes in the fabric to get the prongs through. Or maybe you could snip a tiny hole. Then just push the prongs out by hand.

I just spotted these which I think Im going to get because you will have a clean snap finish on the out side of your item.
