Re: Fun stuff with a tablet... what do you do with yours?

I'll start. My iPad is with me at the packing table while I pack orders. Mostly I watch movies (via Amazon Prime) but if I have a question about an order, I can always pause the movie and pull it up.

I also watch movies on it when I fold laundry : )

More later!!

Re: Fun stuff with a tablet... what do you do with yours?

Mostly I email, iMessage, Etsy (especially forums), and write. I sometimes listen to music or watch Downton Abbey or a football game.
I have an app for phases of the moon, one for a devotional called Forward Day by Day, and a couple for books.
I love the iMessages because my nieces send me pics and videos of their kids. Since I can't travel to see them, this is like watching them grow. 🙂

Hi. I use my iPad for taking pictures and posting on Etsy to sell App. So quick and easy to use. Catch up on emails. Question? What is a good app for creating a treasury? I had one and it crashed. Can't seem to find one in App Store.

BlingScarves, welcome to the team, and thanks so much for asking!

I moved your question over to the app thread. I wasn't very clear about app questions going over there. Thanks!

I used to use an iPad but have recently converted to the Microsoft surface. I use my tablet just like a laptop. Working on etsy, watching football games, researching, playing games, painting and drawing. Love love love my surface!

I use my iPad/iPhone for all my online shopping and everything Etsy!
I tend to watch a lot of horror movies in my spare time, and play a game called Dragonvale when my brain needs a break 😉
Ooh and I also have a small set of Bluetooth speakers so I can listen to music when cleaning!

Also, @Bling Scarves, I use 'Treasury maker free' to create treasuries, it's easy to find on the apple App Store, they also have a paid version which doesn't limit how many you can make, but I have the free version. (For now!)

Teresa, great question!

I moved it over to our new thread on social networking for our Etsy businesses:

Re: Fun stuff with a tablet... what do you do with yours?

As I mentioned, I like to stream movies. We have an Amazon Prime subscription. We also have DirecTV. For $82.xx/mo. Through them, we had been streaming TCM movies. When DirecTV got taken over by AT&T earlier this year, our ability to stream on the iPad stopped.

OK, I get it. Corporate changes, right? Integrating accounts, that kind of thing. We finally get around to contacting them about account issues today. After well over an hour of chat with two techs trying to diagnose my inability to log in, it comes out that we have to upgrade our service to a DVR/HDR. Like, what? When were they going to tell us?

Re: Fun stuff with a tablet... what do you do with yours?

We have friends coming over to watch the hockey classic on Friday. After that , it looks like we will be trying out SlingTV. $20/mo basic package with TCM for another $5.

Hubby just wishes the sports were better. And local TV news. We live in a basement. We tried out an antenna 6 years ago and nothing. I just tried Antennaweb and they show maybe 2 stations we never heard of.

Does anyone use SlingTV? How is it? Any other options out there?

Re: Fun stuff with a tablet... what do you do with yours?

I bought mine and never used it. I did get to make monthly payments on it because I got it through my cell phone carrier.

I tried the whole , reading a book on a tablet thing and I just cant do it. (I have a little problem with hoarding books) Some games I did buy minecraft. I know it is a kids game but hey if I like it who cares if I play it 🙂

This handly cell phone gets so much more use but it is almost like a mini tablet right ?

Ok so i dont use my tablet much, but yesterday I did download the sell on etsy app for it and I absolutely love it. The camera does take better pictures than my sell phone. Well not so much better but easier. The camera did focus on the item right away. So now I do have a use for this tablet that I wanted to bad and never used lol!

Re: Fun stuff with a tablet... what do you do with yours?

Michi, I love my Kindle e-reader. I'm on my second one after I left my K2 in the rain : (

I do use it less now that I have my tablet. I use the reader particularly when traveling. It lasts a week or more without charging, and I don't have to pack, like 10 books : )

Re: Fun stuff with a tablet... what do you do with yours?

I travel with my work so not having to carry much, and being a minimalist is a part of my life. Except my precious items that I like to buy and re sell. That can be tricky what I do is buy A LOT of rubber totes.

I still have a little problem with my books. I just cant help myself. I did donate a lot of them just recently but I still have have too many books i just love the smell and feel of paper. ...maybe i am in the wrong business maybe i should paint and print greeting cards haha.

Re: Fun stuff with a tablet... what do you do with yours?

Not really a "fun" thing. However, I am finding it necessary to do some care of my elderly parents. My dad's health is not good. I just discovered that medical teleconferencing is 1. Legal and 2. Covered by Medicare here in Maine. We are hoping that future consultations can be via this method rather than a difficult trip from a rural area to the doctor.

A tablet would be ideal for that. My mother has (and uses) her laptop, but it'll do.

Re: Fun stuff with a tablet... what do you do with yours?

I am sorry to hear that about your father! I totally get it. It is so hard when people get old. My Grandma had a stroke a little over a year ago, and is now half paralyzed, so I feel for you.
