I'm tired of using plastic table cloths as a skirt for my shows. (I use the plastic one as a skirt and then I have a actual table cloth that goes over the top) So I want to make my own. What fabric did you use to make your table cloths?

Re: Table Skirts

I make custom curtains, so I was thinking I would make a table cloth and/or backdrop and use it as part of my display, but also as an "advertisement" pointing to my custom order curtains section. Does that make sense? Has any one done anything like that, and how did it work?

Re: Table Skirts

Shiloh that is a really great idea. I make all of my display linens etc. I was at a show a couple of years ago. Other vendors came around my space. We started talking about displays etc. I walked out of that show with three custom orders from other vendors. ( I was so excited.) After that I decided I was on to something. I came up with a marketing plan. Now at every show I go to I visit with other vendors and leave my contact information. I typically will get at least one custom order per show from other vendors. It really helps my bottom line; but it also helps other artists / craftspeople as well.
Good luck. Let us know how it goes for you.

Re: Table Skirts

I have several table coverings. It is important that they all go to the floor or almost to the floor. The fabric I have are heavy cotton twill, that I bring a spray bottle with water in to spray if it is really wrinkled. I do fold my cloths nicely between shows so I don't have to use the spray often. This one is custom made for my tables with a smooth top and gathering on around 3 sides, and a flap opening in the back for storage.

The others are all pieces of fabric. The crushed stretchy velour is one of my favorite because it doesn't show any wrinkles, if folded nicely between shows. I over lap them as necessary to cover all sides of the table to the floor. Duct tape helps to hold the first layer that will be heavy on the one side from draping to the floor. Then I add another layer to cover the duct taped cloth.

Re: Table Skirts

If you don't sew like me, i think I can look up where I had custom covers made for 6 ft folding tables with extra length because I put my tables up on bed risers. They are 4 sided, never wrinkle, and have a slit in the back to access hidden boxes. They were very reasonable. Mine are black but they come in lots of colors. Convo me or post here if you want the site.

Re: Table Skirts

Would a be valance work? Some are like a sheet with a gathered edge and others are just have the gathering sewn onto an edging piece that tucks under the mattress.

With the kind that is has just gathering and edge it could be sewn to a bed sheet or a piece of cotton lawn that fits the area of the table.
