One thing I got more hits on is a little something I did. Find someone who does similar stuff to you. After you write about your item look at what they tagged it under. And use those tags in your own order for tagging the item. You will get more views. Also facebook helps alot too. Have people suggest it to friends. Make a contest that whoever suggests it the most get a certain percentage off if they buy or something small for free.
if you can spare a couple bucks visit the Bobi BNR team's BNR they host one daily and get a good amount of views. if you add bijibijoux and MarigoldInBloom to your circle their BNRs will pop up everyday in your activity feed. The one they held this afternoon got over 1000 views. So, yeah it's popular haha.
When thinking about free advertisement, facebook, twitter, stumbleupon, remember there are some forms that are a little outside the box. Youtube.com for example gets tons of views each day. make a slide show of your work or make a DIY video on some part of what you do and what your shop is about and why people should come there.
There is also flickr, it's a great place to keep your photos and would make it easy for others to grab a photo and stick it in their blog or advertisement.
These are some great ideas. I have done some showcases, but those haven't resulted in any sales. I'm hanging in there! I will have to use some of these ideas for sure! Thanks!
Thank you Ravy17 for the great advice. I am trying everything, especially the SEO advice provided, and I am keeping my fingers crossed. I just hope my edited Profile and Shop Announcement pages are not to redundant. If anyone has some extra time let me know what you think via Etsy Conversation. Thanks again!
I just opened my shop this week. I was looking at the thread where people showed their new listings. How do they get the listing pic to show in their post? I can get the link to the item to show, but not a picture.
I am learning so much stuff I needed to know, so many thanks. I did sign up for google analytics, thanks for the instructions. I did a treasury for the first time and still don't understand how that works.
Please explain what a BNR is and how it works,I am confused.
Oh wow! This is a great thread. I got some really nice tips from all of you. Its great!
@ Ravy17 – renewing item : I read that somewhere and put it to use and guess what? It totally works. I guess etsy search works just like google search. People don’t like to click more than 2 pages. So if you refresh your items, it shows up in front page for enough time to get attention.
@ TaryndawnJewelry – promoting on frugal twitter: Thanks for sharing. I am def. going to try it out, hope I am not late and the deal is still on.
BNR stands for Buy and Replace. A curator creates a treasury of featured shops that other shop owners can come and purchase from. When a new shop buys from one of the shops listed, the new shop takes the place of the shop they bought from. This allows other new shops to buy from the new shop.
It's also good for networking purposes, chatting with other sellers on etsy, and it's fun! It is also a good way to get feedback from other sellers. Make sure you read the curators rules if you plan to play. Each one may be a little different.:)
