Opinions on Direct Check Out vs. PayPal

I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on Direct Check Out vs. Paypal. Currently I'm only offering direct check out , since I'm a brand new shop. However I'm wondering if it's worth also offering PayPal? Or should I only offer Paypal?

Part of my hesitation is that a while ago I had a negative experience as a seller (selling something completely unrelated to Etsy) and I just felt like they took so much of a percentage that it wasn't worth it.

I'm interested to hear insights!

This might be a late response for you but here it is anyway. I would do both direct check out and paypal. Some people have paypal while others don't. You want to be able to have a variety of ways for customers to pay.
