Hello and Intros

Welcome to the team!

I am always looking for Scandinavian-inspired arts and crafts, which is why I started this team. I was hoping it could be a place to post links, just talk, make Etsy friends, discover new sellers, promote some, etc.

Please invite other Etsians who you think would like this team.

Oh, and tell us a little about yourself....

Re: Hello and Intros

Cool! Well, a lot of the products I screenprint are influenced by Scandinavian shapes and composition. I'm also influenced by Mid Century-Modern design and simplicity but with a playful twist :)

I'm a screenprinter specializing in paper and textiles and am also a Freelance Graphic Designer.

Re: Hello and Intros

Well thank you for the invite! What a great birthday present! :)

My shop is coming up on its first year anniversary, and what a fun year it has been! I hand carve stamps to be used on journals and cards, with most of my designs centered around the natural world. I am also currently working on line of stamps related to literature, with Steinbeck, Thoreau, and Hemingway being my starting lineup.

I am looking forward to getting to know you guys!

:)

Re: Hello and Intros

So a little about me. I love Scandinavian design because is so simple yet warm.

In the mornings, I work editing technical documents...yawn. The afternoon I am free to crochet/knit, draw, read, or write....the things I really love to do. My shop is moving away from needlepoint and felt to crochet and knits.

I may be showing my age here...I loved "Happy Days" when I was a little kid and everyone loved Chachi (as well as the Fonz), me included.

Re: Hello and Intros

I used to record the show with my tape player so I could listen to it later. This was before we had a VCR. By the time we had a VCR, I was over my Happy Days phase. :)

San Antonio is a fun place to visit! I live in east Texas, basically in the middle of a wooded nowhere. I grew up here, moved from Texas after college to live in Seattle, and came back a little over three years ago.

Re: Hello and Intros

Hello! Thanks for inviting me, I adore Scandinavian design, I love it's simplicity, it's quirky charm, it's elegance, and it's never lost it's vintage routes.

I live in London, UK and work at home as a textile artist, surrounded by piles of colourful vintage fabrics. I have a craft book coming out in february next year which will have 35 tutorials of my designs in, and I love all things vintage, especially the 1960's.

Thank you for the invitation!

I opened my etsy shop in April and am always on the lookout for Scandinavian goodies. I adore Dansk teak, Arabia, Iittala glass, and above all, mid century enamelware. I attribute the beginning of my obsession to finding an Arne Jacobsen Cylinda Line tea pot at the thrift store. All that gorgeousness needs to be appreciated!

Re: Hello and Intros

Hi!

Sass&Peril, we love your stuff. And our baby loves her little fox pillow.

Koenigco is half Swedish so the love for everything scandi comes pretty natural. But how could you not love sleek furniture, pretty glass and enamelware and fabrics in bold patterns. I have trouble finding 10 gruppen (10 group) fabric in the states, anyone that knows if its possible? But I'm happy there is plenty of Marimekko at least.
And the baby clothes. No offense to pink and baby blue, but I seriously love all the bold colors and patterns so much better. There is a lot of rad danish babyclothes out there, and Polarn och Pyret of course. Love it.

We draw everything ourselves and it comes out as a mix of american mid west and scandinavia. We are in the making some new baby shirt designs and the yearly Christmas card. And the wine totes of course, who funnily enough seem to sell really well in Sweden.

Looking forward to get inspired by more scandinavia lovers!!

Re: Hello and Intros

Hello Everyone, thanks for the welcoming atmosphere. I have been checking out your shops and you are knocking up some wonderful stuff. I love scandi style (of course), It started on a visit to Sweden, 15 years ago. Our friend's flat seemed full of quirky, eccentric stuff (a coffee table made out of a packing pallet, a baby's romper suit used as a wall hanging) yet there was a overriding harmony. Clean lines, wood and peacefulness. I am excited about discovering more with you guys.

Hi all!
I don't really have scandinavian inspired stuff in my shop, but I am a huge admirer amd supporter. My dream is to actually move to Finland so I can fully embrace an awesome Scandinavian life.

Re: Hello and Intros

Hello everyone!

I wasn't invited, I found this team myself *laugh*. ...when I was looking for a nice tea mug last year, I fell in love with Iittala's quirky designs, and the handbag I bought a couple of weeks ago is from Maanii, a Danish brand. I'm drawn to Scandinavian design, even though I don't know that much about it yet. Hope to see and find out a lot more here!

BTW I'm originally from Hamburg/Germany, but I live in Tokyo now. My shop is all about vintage kimono-items - love those colors and designs as well!

Here's also the link to my Facebook page, in case you are interested:
