Popular Pyrex?

I love Pyrex and although I have patterns that I like more than others, if it is Pyrex, I scoop it up.

So...it surprises me that a lot of my Pyrex inventory just sits there. The two items I have sold have been the more rare and hard to find pieces. But the other Pyrex treasures just seem to languish.

Now, the items that I have left are patterns from the 1970's. Are people not just that interested in the 1970's patterns? Just out of curiosity, what patterns do you look for? What are the most popular patterns in your store?

Re: Popular Pyrex?

I don't sell Pyrex here, but I am a major Pyrex lover and collector! It does seem that the older and more rare the piece, the more it is sought after. The patterns from the 70s, like butterfly gold, spring blossom, woodland, etc. are plentiful. Any trip I take to Goodwill I can usually find a couple of these pieces. On the other hand, though, Friendship is from the 70s and is extremely popular- and hard to come by. I don't know for sure....it just seems that the bright pops of color from the 40s and 50s and the kitschy pink and turquoise of the 60s are the most sought after right now. But don't give up- somewhere out there is a buyer for groovy 70s Pyrex!

Re: Popular Pyrex?

I get a lot of my Pyrex favorited, but it hasn't flown off the shelves either. The pieces I've sold have been Butterprint and Pink Desert Dawn which are older styles, and as CoffeeCountyCrochet points out, those mid-century colors seem to be big now. I think it may not sell so quickly because it tends to be expensive to ship. Pyrex is popular, but it's a bit of an investment when you add in the shipping.

I personally collect Pyrex in fall colors because the start of my collection was hand-me-downs in college, and in that color scheme. I've just been buying kitchen stuff in those colors since, includind my Pyrex. So I have Early American, Verde square flowers, and some primary pieces.

Re: Popular Pyrex?

Thanks for the info!

TwentyFourteen--I think pink Pyrex is pretty popular. I have a yellow Desert Dawn baker and no takers. Not even a lot of views. Which I think is kinda weird. I mean it is yellow, older, Desert Dawn, and in good shape. But no. And I have a very reasonable price.

But I agree. I think the price of shipping scares a lot of people away. I have quite a bit of interest from international buyers but when I convo back the shippinf rate (not cheap) they lose interest quickly!

Anyway, I won't be too upset if I can't sell it. It will just come back and live with me :)
