Tips For Getting Your Name Out There

This thread is inspired by some recent conversations I've had with members asking me for advice. I thought we could share our ideas for getting our names out there a bit more.

I personally am finding Twitter (which I'm still struggling to "get") is the best for traffic. I use facebook regularly but its getting me nothing, even paid ads.

With Twitter, I've found a few scrapbooking related hashtags that will get my tweet retweeted automatically. That quadruples the views my tweets get.

I immediately get direct views on etsy for my items and the tweet seems to get at least 200 impressions. Keeping in mind I only have 78 followers that isn't bad!

I've also (genius idea by hubby) started following the followers of my competition. His logic is if they like those tweets then they will like mine. So far 52 of my followers have been those people following me in return. Not bad eh!

Do you have any tips?

I agree with you on Facebook. It's hardly getting me anywhere with all the work I put into it.
I just recently started my Twitter (also still struggling:)) and Pinterest (struggling there as well :) account and I seem to be getting more traffic from Pinterest to my website. Great idea from your hubby ...I'll look into it as well.

I'm going to have to try Twitter, Facebook is ok for me, I've joined a few a groups on Facebook and that helps a bit, I seem to get more traffic from the group page posts than my own Facebook page post. I'm also donating an item to a charity event this week for a local Animal hospital, I'm hoping I can get a little business from that.

Still setting up my Pinterest page, I can't seem to get the hang of Pinterest for business yet lol!

So, I posted a few photos of my new products in a group on Facebook last night, it immediately got a bunch of likes and then I made 2 sales! whoo hoo!!!!!

It seems like promoting outside of Etsy through many different channels works! I'm for sure going to set up a Twitter account this weekend and see how well it works for me.

uuugh I DONT get twitter at all! I've had a pinterest for personal use for a while but the things I've posted from my Etsy have gotten 0 shares. What types of groups on facebook are you in jennifer? I'm afraid to spam everyone.

I forgot to say, be careful if sharing your own stuff on your own personal facebook timeline. A friend of mine had her account closed because they said by doing that she was using her personal page as a business. They never let her reopen it despite ongoing communication. :-(

I only post in groups and share from my business page. That would be terrible to get your shop closed from that, I have shared a couple posts to my personal page, but maybe I won't anymore!

I am in a couple groups, one is "It's better homemade", Great group, I've gotten a few sales from that one.
The other group is "Etsy Fan Page Group", just a way to promote your items.

I usually only post once, maybe twice a week, that way I avoid spamming. I post to those groups generally when I have new items for sale and share my business page on the groups page.

It's been a crazy week, sorry it took so long for me to reply. Working on a custom order right now...
