Is it appropriate to include a signature in your pieces?
Hi. I sell polymer clay charms and several people suggested I "sign" them in a non-invasive way (e.g. at the bottom and a very small signature). Do you include a signature in your work? Would it be okay to do this?
If so, would it still be appropriate if the charms were character-inspired? The signature would reflect the work put into the charm and not the character.

I think it would be appropriate. I have signed several of my pieces, including a mini sculpture of a Protectron robot from the game Fallout 3. I don't think by signing it, you're saying "I own the rights to this image" but "I made this." And I do agree that it should be small and on the bottom. I don't know about doing it on jewelry, but on figurines, sculptures, etc. I think it's appropriate.
Going to go check out your shop! :)

Re: Is it appropriate to include a signature in your pieces?
You might consider putting your initials on the bottom of your charms. Also, I have seen some polymer artists make a small "Signature " cane. I have often thought about doing that but haven't gotten around to it yet. This is a great example http://www.etsy.com/listing/87954684/kaleidoscope-polymer-clay-pendant If you're real adventurous, you could make a stamp of your name or initials to stamp your charms with. Not quiet sure how to go about doing that, but I'm sure you could find ideas if you search the web. All artists sign their work, so I say you should.

I actually made a stamp out of polymer clay with my initials. Very easy and it works great!
