I've suddenly started having a problem with my Tecre machine and the glossy photo paper I've used for the past 11 months. Now it won't grab the mylar and is leaving little bits sticking out. I spoke to the company I buy my button supplies from and they seem to think the glossy photo paper is too thick. If I go to a thinner glossy paper I lose the depth of colour.
Would anyone mind telling me what type of paper you're printing on?
I should add that for the first 11 months there was absolutely no problem printing on this paper. I'm printing on my Brother inkjet as my laser only prints black and white.
If your mylar isn't crimping all the way, try wiping the pickup and crimp dies with silicone lubricant. I had a similar problem last year and this fixed it :) I've also successfully used sewing machine oil. There's some great info here:

The thicker paper doesn't work for me. I use regular paper but print on a laser printer to have bright colors. I'd love to get a better home printer but I haven't found one I like yet, so I print at Kinkos.
