I feel like this used to happen randomly, but now it seems to be happening all the time, and I'm wondering if it is just me (or my theme, or whatever, LOL).
If a buyer sends a message from a listing page, it used to include that listing in the message. And in fact (as I just sent myself a message), it *appears* it is including the listing from the buyer's end.
But when I receive the message as a seller, the listing is not included. So I have no idea what listing they are asking about. And since it appears that information is automatically included, the buyer doesn't specify.
Like I said, it isn't new that it happens, it just seems to always be happening now. Has anyone else noticed it, too?
I just noticed it a couple of days ago. I thought that the buyer was not even "in" a specific item, but was contacting me at another spot that was non specific. And, yes, it has happened before, but I just thought the same thing.
On a side note if you use help or chat, be sure to ask for someone that is knowledgeable in Pattern. I needed to use chat on Thursday for a pattern problem and was very aggravated because the assistant gave the same blurbs of change browser and dumping cache. I was livid. So on Friday, I used chat again and started the convo with "please put someone on that is familiar with pattern." When another person came on, I specifically asked her if she was familiar with pattern. When she replied yes, I proceeded from there. She was unable to help me immediately but she was able to fix it within 2 hours and emailed me to let me know. I guess, I am trying to suggest to you to be specific that you want someone that is knowledgeable with pattern and do not take "no" for an answer. You pay for pattern, it is not a freebie; no one is doing you a favor by addressing your problem. I use to use pattern help via a specific pattern radio button but that was useless on Thursday and Friday so I went this route.
Good Luck.
ETA - I hope someone will come along and help you further.
Yes. I am constantly having to ask the customers to paste the item title into a message so I know what they are referring to. I used to be able to see a small icon on the desktop messages but now there is no hint as to what the question is about. This needs to be fixed!
I had this happen to me, but I don't think it is a Pattern specific issue. I have yet to get an order or my Pattern website (just set it up in early June), but I had a contact via Etsy where a user was asking about a listing, but it wasn't connected to the listing in any way, so I couldn't figure out which one she was referring to.
I reached out to Etsy support, since that is where I had the problem, and gave them the information. They are looking into it. Maybe if they fix it, it will fix it for both Etsy and Pattern messages. We can hope anyway.
It's not big surprise, but thought I'd share that I never got an answer on this from Etsy support. However, it hasn't happened again for me.
