Hello team,

I'm an artist and have always been a very hopeful and idealistic person, but I spent a few days in a state of deep despair after the election of Donald Trump as next president of the United States. Of course it's not the kind of thing you just get over, but life does go on. So on Friday, I got the idea for this team, and I hope it can become a place of solidarity for people with progressive values, and a place to raise money for the causes we care about.

To get us started, I'm planning to name the first charity for the team to support myself on Dec. 1st. After that, I'm hoping team members will want to come forward with their own ideas. Sometime next week I'll have some information on ways to vet charities and organizations. I want to make sure the team will not be donating to any shady or wasteful organizations.

Hi all,

we are a young progressive couple living together in New Orleans. We met at Brown University, spent a couple years in Boston, and just moved a couple months ago. We started making candles as a project to do together on our second anniversary, eventually created an Etsy shop called Cup O' Candle, and then rebranded as Feminist Flames when election stress got too much. We make feminist themed candles and donate 10% of our profits to planned parenthood, so we love the idea of this group and can't wait to get more involved!

Hi everyone! I stumbled across your group and joined right up! I am a CPA/tax accountant who moved to China for a couple years, bought lots of pearls and learned how to make jewelry, which I now attempt to sell as a side business. (I also have a shop called ST Bridal that has pearl jewelry.) Anyway, my husband and I ended up in one of the most conservative counties in the United States. My kids are grown; it's very lonely here, and I always appreciate some sanity and moral support from fellow progressives online.

Welcome to the team, Roxanne! I grew up in Indianapolis, but I still don't understand what is going on in the minds some people, especially the ones who believe that Trump and Clinton were equally bad. Really? Do you read? Do you make any effort at all to be an informed citizen? It's mystifying and very disheartening. I feel your pain!
