Printing PDF patterns

Hi Everyone,
I offer both the option of a hard copy pattern to send in the mail and also a PDF option. Mostly every pattern I sell is a PDF. Out of those sold I would say about 40% come back to me with questions about printing. I am more than happy to help out and I do direct them to my website for additional instructions including a screenshot. However, sometimes it's a real struggle to get the point across. I'm a tech geek so I know I take some of my knowledge for granted, but I would think the information I provide is fairly straightforward and simple.
I am wondering how others clarify this to customers, or do you struggle as I do?
Here's the link I provide if you would like to give me your feedback on if this is clear. http://www.skinnybitchcurvychick.com/how-to/
Thanks!
Suzy

Re: Printing PDF patterns

On the first (written) page of my pattern I make sure to tell them to make sure they print the pattern at it's actual size, not to shrink the image, etc... I highlight that as an important note. I do all my artwork for my pattern pieces in the same program that I publish the pattern to PDF format.

I also draw a 3" line on the pattern pages. Above that line I write, "For pattern to print out at proper size, this line must measure 3 inches." That way the person will know that they are printing it at the right (or wrong) size.

For many of my projects to turn out right, it's important that they print out the pattern at the right size so I really stress this issue.

Re: Printing PDF patterns

I haven't had any issues... on the very first page of the pattern it is printed in large letters

"For printing use "Page Scaling None"
and then the format, as in
Paper size: A4

I offer patterns in A4, A3, Letter, Legal, and then as one sheet of any custom width. Clients from USA and Europe and Australia have asked for different formats, though A4 is still the most popular one.

Re: Printing PDF patterns

Hi, I'm so new on Etsy that I haven't had anyone with problems --- I include a test square of 10cm or 4 inches on the second page of the pattern pdf as well as all the usual instructions for printing. This is handy for me also to do a quick check on a pattern file to make sure it's right.
