I'm just getting started in trying to set up an Etsy shop and I have a lot to learn. I hope that this team can help me figure it all out.

For now I'm planning to sell downloadable PDF patterns for sewing and quilting. I've been selling on Craftsy, but Etsy is very different and I have several key questions. First of all, do I upload the patterns to Etsy like I do on Craftsy? If so, how? If Etsy doesn't send the PDF files to the customer, will I always receive instant notification of a sale and a customer email address so I can send the PDF file? I know this happens when Paypal is used, but is it also true of purchases paid through credit cards?

I would appreciate any answers to these questions and any other advice that any of you may have for me. Thanks a bunch.

@Karen: yes, you can now upload them directly to Etsy by joining the digital download team (I think that's the name). It's really easy!
