Hi, I'm Su. :) I wrote my first fairy tale 'newspaper' 4 years ago and it has since grown into a whole archive (currently being re-released over the present year) plus various 'related products', such as magic mirrors and FAYC postage stamps.
I love looking at old stories from new perspectives - most of my work so far is based on Brothers Grimm & Andersen - and having a bit of fun with them. It's all a bit tongue-in-cheek, but as anyone familiar with fairy tales knows, can also sometimes err to the darker side...
Please post a little bit about your shop & how it relates to the group themes. And thank you for joining! :)

Hello,
I am Jessy. New to Etsy and new to art in general. I've always loved art but never made any personally because I never had the space to just allow it to pile up in my 1 br apartment. Now that I've found etsy I'm super excited to make the things I've always wanted to make and have a place to sell them and make room for new projects. I am currently sculpting a piece from Labyrinth. The little 'ello worm and am very excited with the results so far.

Hi,
I'm an artist from Brighton in England.
A lot of my work is inspired by either mythological creatures such as Unicorns and Mermaids, traditional fairytales, or else slightly more modern children's literature (Narnia, Alice etc). I sell both artwork, and also a variety of decorated products, including jewellery, Christmas ornaments, painted wooden boxes and pocket mirrors.

Hi Everyone,
I am Alan, kind of new to etsy, I create figurines and dolls, many inspired by fantasy and fairy-tale themes. I do have a small yet substantial library of illustrated books, from all the works of Han Christian Andersen to Leopold's Dream. All the arts & crafts I create are inspired by innocence, and fairy-tales.

Re: Welcome to Once Upon a Time...! (Introductions)
Have a nice day! My name is Svetlana, I'm russian selftaught artist and I'm in love with Nature powers. I believe that on Earth still remain some places like forests or mountains that are away from modern life which are fillful with spirits and strange creatures staying unseen by humans. People often don't think about how much of harm they can bring to this wonderful world and I just want them to remember: Nature is very beautiful, full of surprises and wonders.. I make my creatures from air-dry clay, it's quite fragile material as alive beings in real life. I try to make my creatures more alive telling stories and myths about them. Visit my store to meet some of them and feel free to show it to your friends, I hope it will be interesting for all of you https://www.etsy.com/ru/shop/SweetSign
To see more of my creatures visit my DA gallery: http://sweetsign.deviantart.com/gallery/

Re: Welcome to Once Upon a Time...! (Introductions)
Hi!
I'm Julia. I find inspiration in the natural world and in the myths, folk tales and traditions created across the world. I like to believe that magic truly does exist, if not in the form of unicorns and dragons (as much as I love them!) It exists in the forces of nature - weather, growth, birth and death, the cycle of the stars and seasons, the relationships between every living being.
I love exploring how each culture connects with that through their myths, religions and rituals.
Julia :)

Hi :)
I'm Suzy from Lincolnshire England.
I have always been inspred by fairytales. Having 5 girls has helped me keep my childhood wonder. By looking at the world through their eyes I am able to see things anew every day.
I think children think in fairy tales :)
I have been particularly inspired by Bruno Bettelheim and Robert Bly and Marion Woodman's translations of old traditional tales, my favourite's being the tale of Tatterhood and the legend of Parsifal.
Myth seems to play a really important role in human conciousness. I have really enjoyed exploring these ideas especially after reading Joseph Campbell's work.
I think (hope) alittle bit of make believe comes through my work :)

Hi! And thanks for inviting me!
I´m Amaya, from Madrid (Spain).I think I never stopped believing in fairytales, I guess that explains why my artwork is so influenced by them.
Secreta Shop was born out of the idea of creating a space for everything that I bring from my nocturnal "flights" (In this life,I´ve forgotten how to ride a broomstick, but I still continue "flying"!). Somehow I know my paintings are fragments of other hidden worlds we don´t normally see but they are no less real. In these worlds still exists magic; I like my paintings to give a feeling of looking at these wonderful places because I know whoever believes in Magic can do anything!
Here´s my shop: https://www.etsy.com/es/shop/SecretaShop?ref=si_shop&langid_override=0

Hi everyone, thanks for inviting me :D
I've always been drawn to fantasy and fairy tales, whether it's reading them, writing my own, drawing or crafting about them. My shop on etsy specialises in my own imagination and displaying clay models of my characters and creations (I'll admit, usually dragons).
Looking forward to chatting with you all!

Hi, thanks for the invite :]
I am interested in the longevity of fairytales and how they adapt (are adapted..) as times change and people require different things from them. In our shop, we have prints of original illustrations showing a new relationship between Little Red and the Wolf; they're old friends now, and Red has developed a mischievous personality!

Re: Welcome to Once Upon a Time...! (Introductions)
Thank you so much for inviting me to the team :)
I have loved fairy tales since I was a kid.. A while ago I realized that my artwork had a lot of fairy tale themes and symbols... I started reading all the old fairy tales recently, now my artwork seems to revolve around the idea of creating my own fairy tale through visual narrative. I paint storybook like illustrations inhabited by anthropomorphic creatures, little girls lost in the woods, and magic potions...
Sorry that sounded so formal, I have been working on my artist statement :P Here are my links if you want to follow my work and exploration of fairy tales..

Re: Welcome to Once Upon a Time...! (Introductions)
Hi all,
Thanks very much for letting me be a part of the team. I live in Wales on the site of a Roman Fort (we can see the North wall from our bathroom window) and love everything that reminds me that all we see is not all there is, and that those that came before us knew this with absolute certainty.
I work in depth with colour and with archetypal themes of season, element and spirit, and am so grateful to the stories, myths and legends (old and new) that help to keep the metaphysical alive.
I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else is making; I've already had a wee look and it's all very interesting... :-)
Thanks again everyone!

Hello!
My name is Sarah. I'm honored to be a new member of this team. I'm an italian artist and illustrator actually unemployed.

I'm inspired by myths, music, fairy tales and classical poems (internationals and Italians, of course!). I have botanical interests, especially for the curative and poisonous plants.
Literature, Psychology, music, alternative science, meditation, magic and art are my favourite jobs.
I have another shop:

Hello to this beautiful team! I have spent quite some time exploring the creations of its members . . .
A lot of my inspiration and strength in life and in work comes from myth, folklore and stories. Coming from Estonia I have also been influenced by northern landscapes, seasons and visual traditions since childhood.
On etsy I mostly show my work for children - picture-story-and-colouring books for young children (and some grown-ups). I live in the forests of classic fairy-tales half of the time and that is the world of my books as well, interested in both the outer details and inner logic of those stories. There are also illustration postcards and in the future some portraits of woodland (or other) creatures
Sharing the video that goes with a book of mine - I think that it captures the mood of the work best, and it also works as a lullaby quite well, if anyone out there has sleepy stubborn toddlers or babies to deal with . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guRld09hrRU
