I read that the tables are four feet each--does this mean they're both a square four feet? Can we orient them any direction we want in the booth space?

They are four feet by two feet I believe. You can orient them in any way that they will fit in your booth.

Hi, I can offer some insight with the tables. They are rectangles - 4ft long x 2ft wide. We also give you 1 - 8ft black linen to cover the tables. Hope this helps!
