I am writing to you from a small school in Vancouver for students with dyslexia. Our Grade 12 students are required to complete a Capstone Project as part of their Graduation requirements.
The Capstone Project is a Grade 12 culminating project required for graduation. It is an opportunity for Grade 12 students to reflect and share in personally meaningful ways. Students will choose an area of passion, curiosity, or interest and delve deeper into this area as a basis for this project. Ideally, the capstone is a ‘passion project’ where students will think critically, problem-solve, and develop useful life skills.
I have a student who has chosen to create playing cards, and set up an Etsy page to market and sell her products. Our students are required to secure a mentor to help guide them through their projects.
I am wondering if there is anyone in this Etsy Team who would be willing and available to be a mentor for my student. She has attempted to contact people who currently sell on Etsy to act as a mentor, but so far she has not had success. The commitment is to meet online periodically to answer questions, help brainstorm, troubleshoot, and offer general guidance to the student. This student would specifically like assistance setting up her Etsy page. Mentors will also be required to complete an assessment at the end of the project, which will likely be sometime in April or May. Students will present their project to school staff and other invited guests via Zoom and the mentor would be welcome to attend if interested.
