Trainer

I was just thinking about what good trainers Rory and Peat are. They have trained us to give them milk every morning by calling us and parading in front of the fridge. Sometimes we don't get it right away, but they keep it up and even paw the door of the fridge to show us where the milk is kept (in case we forgot). Peat has taught us to clap and make a big fuss over him when he gets into the big bowl on the floor and rolls around inside it. Oh, and Rory has taught us to open the door when he stands on his hind legs and pats it.

They're still working on getting us to come when they call; at this point we only come about half the time. Luckily they're very patient!

What tricks have your furry co-workers taught you?

Re: Trainer

mercedes paws at the bathroom cabinet to get in it. and she opens some of the other bigger doors...gotta be careful with her, or soon she'll figure out the locks.

Re: Trainer

Rory has figured out how to open one of our sliding glass doors, and regular door handles pose no problem for him. Although he prefers that we open them for him!

GREAT TOPIC!! I'm going to have to start working on the massive list of things my cats have trained me to do. I'm the perfect "employee!!"

Re: Trainer

Lela has trained me that when she starts jumping on the coffee table I get out the shoe string so we can play. :) Silly cat has all kinds of energy lately!

Re: Trainer

We have two sliding doors covering the walk-in closet in the entryway and Thommy has a sleeping den in there. If he wants in and the door is closed, he simply slides one to the side and waltzes in.

Another normal closet door he figured out too; the door starts above floor level and all he has to do is stick his paw under its ridge, voilà, open sesame. Luckily the closet bottom is filled with piled shoes, which isn't comfortable as a bed at all, so he sticks to his spots elsewhere.
