How to I get a Heavier Mask to Stay on?

I have a top heavy mask that is also taller on one side (where a predominant amount of the embellishments are located), and I want my customer to be able to wear her hair down and still have the mask stay on....ribbon of course is a no go....elastic is okay...but it slips as well...is there a way that i can assemble this that will prove reliable?!?!?

Merimask who makes these beautiful 8 oz leather masks recommends paracord. She linked a shop a few months back here on Etsy that sells the type she uses. Just read back through he discussion for the shop name.

I make heavy, asymmetrical masks as well. I start by making sure that the top of my head is the main support of the piece. I've also used two different anchors for the elastic; one strip goes behind the head horizontally, then I attach elastic from the top piece of the mask and this vertical piece of elastic attaches to the horizontal piece of elastic. I use the wider elastic on the heavy masks. Cushioning is very important on a piece like this, obviously. Hope this helps! I've had to tear apart and re-design a few masks when I've gotten carried away with the embellishments before (;-)
