Where are your views coming from?

This is a good way to see what is working for you and what needs improvement. Go to your shop stats and change view to "all time." Take a look at your top 10 view sources.

Here's an example of mine:

1. Etsy.com
2. Direct Traffic
3. Google (this is higher when adding in Google UK, Google translate etc.)
4. Stumble upon
5. Pinterest
6. site I advertise on through ProjectWonderful.com
7.100craftlinks.com
8. Facebook
9. My blog
10. thefind.com

What does this tell me? I am doing pretty well with SEO, but I need to build up my blog and facebook followers. Any other thoughts?

Re: Where are your views coming from?

Maggie and Sam,
Your photos are both amazing, I'm so jealous. SEO is never ending, but the one tip I can give is to look at your shop info in terms of search engines. Borrowing from the Relevancy SEO team:

Karen from MirabilisFashions says

It's been a while since we talked about this so I want to remind people that google crawls your whole shop and your shop title, announcement and section names are very important to your SEO.

The same rules apply. Use your strongest keywords without breaking up the phrases at all and take advantage of the opportunity to use the plural forms of your keywords because they usually have higher counts than the singular forms. Even though we have limited space try to remember that google isn't a human and won't make obvious human connections. "Silver necklaces and bracelets" isn't as good as "silver necklaces, silver bracelets". It's also important to remember to leave a space before or after your punctuation.

(Shop title is the phrase directly below your shop name, and the way I saw it explained, describe exactly what you sell in your shop title, and once you set it, avoid changing it again because it breaks the links google makes to your shop.

Re: Where are your views coming from?

Thank you for your compliments about my photos! I have worked hard at them for a long time. I am a part of the Relevancy and SEO team too, Grace, Karen and Mary are all very helpful... You are right - it is a constant battle. Never ending.

I just today unveiled my new shop name - and graphics set. I now offer all my jewellery in glossy black gift boxes with cotton lining and matching gift tags. And soon, I will offer designer handmade paper tags with certain items - made exclusively for my shop by another Etsy artisan. I'm really excited about adding big parts to my shop - things like this, that really matter.

But the tweaking of keywords, and doodling with descriptions will go on :)

Also, I got a Google.com view today. Just to prove my post from yesterday wrong, I guess :)

Re: Where are your views coming from?

At some point in time I intend to host short how-to videos on my blog. Basic jewelry how-to videos that can not only redirect traffic from my blog to my Etsy shop, but also direct any Youtube traffic that I may be able to lasso in, as well.

Currently, most of my traffic is coming from Etsy, Facebook, and direct traffic.

I am not sure the timeframe everyone is using. My one day totals are much lower (62 views so far today) so I did it for the month so far. I never thought of posting on craigslist. Thanks for the tip.

Re: Where are your views coming from?

Heather: That's pretty good for the first week. Have you thought about offering your photography in different formats, like greeting cards, calendars, smaller and larger prints etc?

Re: Where are your views coming from?

Hi Rachel, I'm in the process of posting some smaller prints. I also have BagTags (luggage tags) as well as magnets that I have yet to list.

I've been trying to find a place to print calendars that aren't so expensive that I can't sell them. I'm trying to decide whether to have cards printed OR get the cards where I place a print inside the front. I'm open for any and all suggestions.

Here is my new shop stats at less than 1 month:
etsy.com 323
facebook.com 22
Direct Traffic 18
m.facebook.com 12
google.com 5
asheville.craigslist.org 2
boone.craigslist.org 2
columbusga.craigslist.org 2
bing.com 1
swv.craigslist.org

Thanks and Happy Selling!!!
