I am very happy to report that I am now CPSIA compliant. I had a third party approved lab do the testing. Besides the cost, it was all relatively painless.
rakubuttons says: 204 items in your shop at present. That must have cost a fortune. ************
ROFL the web is a funny thing 45 items for sale here http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5444743 wonder if this shop is compliant too since it has a ton of jewelry with swar. crystals and for children under teh age of 12 years of age!
But really...my belief is that one should be able to make what one wants to make by having the suppliers of our supplies, comply with this new law...if the supplies we buy are not safe...they should not be out there for sale......
Luna, but that would be a shame to destroy a good children's book if there was nothing physically wrong with it. My Grandkids learned to read from books from the 1960's, they said they were much more interesting than books they were offered in school!
I'm just curious...to the mothers, are you throwing out toys, books, clothing and so on that you have in your home that have not been tested? I don't have kids so I would just like to hear how the moms feel about this law? Would you buy something that has not been tested that is labeled "not intended for children under 12"? Like we have all been doing for years, lol. Thanks
LOL Can you imagine the amount of lead we were exposed to as children? I'm surprised we don't have 3 eyes and a tail by now! I think the law was intended to cut down on toys made in china with TONS of lead, it's just gotten so out of hand. My hubby and I are trying to get pregers, I can tell you that I will buy as much from etsy sellers as possible! When I read "not intended for children under 12" I will know it has not been tested and that's fine with me.
Thegecko, of course you can buy one for your unborn baby, you just have to promise not to let the baby eat it, touch it, look at it, or know of it's existence until their 12 birthday :)
Hey butterflygem...Did you have to get every piece in your shop tested? That must have been expensive from what I'm hearing! I'm just curious, I don't know much about this whole thing. From what I understand my work is not intended for children so I don't need to get tested. Do you all think I need to post a "not intended for children under 12"? Sorry I haven't been keeping current, I'm sure you have all been asked these questions before.
