label resources

I'm a little worried about what to do for labels IF I keep selling kids plushies (most of mine are not for kids anyway.)

I did a little bit of looking around and here is one example of a site that does safety labels:
http://www.easy2name.com/

I'm wondering though ... how would you do the manufacture date? For instance, I don't want to order 100 labels that have the same date because I don't make 100 items in one day! But would it even be possible to hand write the date on such a tiny label if there is already text on it? I don't know.

Ideas?

Re: label resources

The label I ordered has 3 lines, one of which says DOM:_____________. The label itself is less than an inch high, but that should be enough room to write in the date with a fine line sharpie. I don't have any other solution.

Re: label resources

i'm hoping a lot of people will post where they are getting theirs done. this is kind of something we're all in together, so it would be nice to share some sites.

does anyone know of etsy sellers who are doing labels and don't mind being posted here?

Re: label resources

There are a bunch of folks on Etsy who make clothing labels. I'm sure they could do a custom one for you!

Re: label resources

I agree there are alot of people on etsy that would love the buisness.
I am gonna use HERJODREN she is on etsy and makes my store name ones already.
So myblessed.....what are the other three lines saying?
Cause we have to keep track of what materials we use. Should there be three lines?

Re: label resources

Does anyone have concerns with the ink used to make labels, is the ink they use non-toxic and is that good enough? How about the ink used in permanent makers like a sharpie, I am looking at a sharpie pen and I don't see anywhere that says it is non-toxic. I am concerned with this because if I use a sharpie (or any permanent pen)to write dates, etc. on my label what if the consumer doesn't remove the label and the baby puts the label in its mouth, this makes me very nervous.

Any thoughts on this.

Re: label resources

I have decided to be brave and try making my own handwritten labels.I am able to write neatly in small print (I do a lot of tiny embroidery too),so I think I will use smooth cotton tape and a micro-fine fabric pen.Fabric pens are usually non-toxic and fade proof,so I should be ok,as far as ink goes.I just ordered some cotton tape from an etsy seller in japan and it looks like it would work for me.The name of the shop is cottonblue.
