Reading all the posts on this topic and many other regular posts on hows and why this and that here on ETSY has brought me to feel I need to make a blog. I resisted making one for a long time thinking I'm so much older than many, and that blogging is for those much younger than I.

I got to thinking I have grown kids so I don't have to worry about this CPSIA thing but then reality hit home...

I have friends who have kids. It will affect them because some have young ones and do buy or create home made.

The corner stores all have crafty things in them. This will also affect the mom and pop stores that carry these type of items so in essence that can of Campbells Soup you just bought from the neighborhood quickie store may cost you more to help make up that difference the store now loses since it lost items that did not fall under CPSIA Standards.

From what I gather its even affecting our libraries as well ridding the shelves of the books I grew up with saying how they may be harmful to a child. (I read them though and no problems)

What other ways could this affect people who do not have young children in general?

I do know those larger stores will have to find a way to replace lost revenue to just stay open.

I would love to share your replies and ideas on my new blog

I would also love to be notified by Etsy if, for some reason, we don't see an appeal or exception by the dreaded February date. Maybe Etsy can send out an all-points bulletin?

I think the next step would then be to "deactivate" your items (ie. don't delete them or rashly close your shop) in case there is an appeal shortly thereafter. Then, you can just Select All and reactivate instead of having to relist everything.

If relisting is too costly or expensive, Etsians may still walk away even if it ends up still being okay to sell.

Re: Who all will this affect?

I'm still very confused with this whole thing. I think it STINKS! I'm still trying to find out how it will affect charities. I founded a charity for needy babies and we don't 'sell' anything. We donate it to people. If anyone has read anything related to this, please post. I would HATE to think that I am going to have to shut down my charity!

Berkanas, also think about the preschools and government funded head start programs for lower income pre-school aged children that fill their 'play areas' with donated toys, etc. - all of it should be tested......
