Too exhausted to deal with this..........

Ok..when this whole CPSIA thing exploded, I was all up in it...activist..doing everything I could to get the word out there. I have been in news articles, have corresponded with our Mayor...gotten all kinds of people involved.

Then....my business exploded. I get 5 hours of sleep a night, if I'm lucky....and sew round the clock. My wholesale business has skyrocketed. I have too much business to handle on my own.

Can I just PAY someone to make me CPSIA compliant? I don't have the time to deal with this. It's exhausting just trying to keep up with the requirements.

There's a new Etsy business just WAITING to be started. CPSIA Compliance package...
$250!

*sigh*

I have slacked off since Xmas. I have no idea where to begin anymore. August labeling....GREAT......................

Any free personal assistants out there??????

A wise old graphic designer once told me... if you ever have the good & fortunate difficulty of having too much business, raise your rates a little bit here a little more there, until you can have one hour of the day to yourself as free time, and then you can stop raising them.

I can send you my daughter...she is 17...comes with own clothes, cell phone that never shuts off, crazy boyfriend she thinks she "LOVESSSS HIM" and an attitude....FOR FREE...I think that is one heck of a bargain!!!...HURRY WHILE SUPPLIES LAST!!!

Yes..my prices are going up a bit with the fall line. But...seriously, I wish I could just PAY someone to deal with this CPSIA stuff. It's just a pain!!!!

OMGoodness ZozoBug! I just took a peek at your shop and I can see why you are so overwhelmed! I started doing children's boutique clothing about five years ago, sold on eBay, was so busy and stressed that I thought I would lose my mind ;o) so I KNOW how long it takes to make one of those twirly skirts, and all the other beautiful items you are creating. Your prices are WAY, WAY too low for the time you are investing.

So . .. . maybe raise your prices, and those who really, really want your designs will come along for the ride. The rest are just looking for a bargain. . . . which is fine, but not at your expense!

Here's another idea: When I couldn't keep up with making all those things (same thing 10 times in a row is NOT my idea of feeling very creative!), I got a couple of emails asking me to write up a pattern for this design or that design - so I started writing eBook patterns. Sure that takes more time the FIRST time you write it, but after that you can sell the pattern over and over (but you don't have to write it over and over!), make a bit of money for your family, be creative and have fun, help others learn how to be creative . . . and not lose your mind! ;o) For whatever that's worth -

How about hiring someone to help sew and package orders? Then you will have time to make sure that you are compliant.

I'm with Skaldi - raise your prices. If you have to hire help you need to raise them to pay that person anyway, and when you're in demand you have to control the flow of customers. Raising your prices is a good way to do that. The numbers will stop flowing so rapidly for a short time, then pick back up. Then it's time to raise them again. I do this in my own graphics biz and that's the way it always happens.

It's good to see someone from my home that's making it. I love your style/fabric choices. I don't have any kids. You should make adult sizes, so I can buy some of the dresses. Clothes in the stores are ugly and uglier every season. Good luck.
