Those that did XRF testing

How did you find a company to come and do the testing?

Re: Those that did XRF testing

Did you send them one of each of your final products to test or did you send only one of each product type?

Re: Those that did XRF testing

Personally, my reasonable testing program (until August) was to send all of my product components. I only sent a few finished products.

Re: Those that did XRF testing

Thanks everyone! Since we paint clothes..Do we need to send him each jar of paint and a sample of each tshirt or onesie..or do we send him all of our finished items only? Also..what does this mean for our future designs for spring and summer..more testing..What a headache

Re: Those that did XRF testing

boygirl - I can only tell you what I did.

I sent him a sample of each paint color on paper and a blank piece of paper (so he could test the substrate alone if necessary). I sent him one of each type of garment brand I use and I miniturized all my designs and put them on the garments to be tested individually. If you did send one of the finished individually, that'd be ok too. The items are completely unharmed during testing, so you'll get them back.

In terms of the future, I don't know. My supplies should keep me good until August, when I will either go out business or hope they allow XRF testing to continue.

Re: Those that did XRF testing

I guess my concern is that I have about 400 different flannel prints that I make bibs, Burp cloths and blankets out of. Do I have to have all 400 prints tested or would it be resonable for me to send in a sample of the flannel that seems to have the most dye used in it.

Re: Those that did XRF testing

That's awesome Bugga! Do they have a minimum amount of items/hours required?

Re: Those that did XRF testing

4mybaby - It's really up to you, but in my opinion, if you want to use them all, you should have them all tested. You might want to do just some of them at first and use the ones that you've tested, and then send in a few more. Like if you just chose half of them or something, 200 prints is still a lot of choices.

Kunkle - I am not aware of any minimums, none were mentioned to me at any point. But you might want to ask if you email or call him :)
