Stuffed Animals and Hats

I just learn of this CPSC. I'm very confused about all of it and can't find anything on the website. I have sent a form through the need more help.

I crochet stuffed animals/play food and hats. I use 100% cotton yarn (I Love This Cotton Yarn brand only), polyfill and safety eyes on some. The safety eyes are 12mm and have attachments placed on the back so they stay secure on the items. They are machine wash and dry able.

If I need to get them tested how do I do that? Do I need to apply for things?

Re: Stuffed Animals and Hats

Daisy,

You need to start at the CPSC ombudsman's pinned thread at the top of this forum. There are links to follow that explain much of what you need. Also, do a search in this team for stuffed animals, we have had several threads in the past month on these with a lot of helpful information and links to "law labels" for stuffed items. There is also a discussion on the thread above on making toys. You will need to make CPSIA tracking labels for anything you make for children. These are permanently sewn into your items. You will need some kind of a recordkeeping system that keeps track of all the materials and any certificates of compliance of safety testing on your materials like your safety eyes.
