Read the Actual Stay of Enforcement

Here is a link to the text of the stay that was voted upon. It is 19 pages long in a pdf file and has all of the details.
http://www.cpsc.gov/library/foia/foia09/brief/stayenforce.pdf

There are some exceptions to this stay - read page 4. Not very clear and the exceptions should not effect many. Again, it is going to take an expert to interpret this. But for the most part it looks good!

Re: Read the Actual Stay of Enforcement

On page 10 of the pdf doc (labeled page 8), there are some very interesting stats on people like us. I feel like they did some research and realized that we make up the majority!

Re: Read the Actual Stay of Enforcement

Can anyone explain what this line means?
"The ban on small parts effective for products made after February 15, 2009"

This is one of the exceptions to the stay. What small parts are being referred to?

Re: Read the Actual Stay of Enforcement

Now that sounds a bit more doable!!!
No need for certification and testing, just be damn sure your stuff does NOT contain LEAD or PHTHALATES and you will be OK.....in other words, do not buy supplies from China.

Re: Read the Actual Stay of Enforcement

:/ I don't think that's the right thing since it's dated 2001.

"On February 15, Third-Party Testing Reports are required for small parts under 16 CFR 1501."

"Cautionary Labeling in Catalogs and Other Printed Materials

* This requirement pertains only to certain toys and games that require cautionary statements regarding choking hazards presented by small parts, small balls, marbles and balloons (section 24 of the FHSA)."

"Key Points for February 15, 2009 Requirements
As of February 15, 2009, Third-Party Testing Reports are required for small parts under 16 CFR 1501. This requirement details the methods for identifying toys and other articles intended for use by children under three years of age which present choking, aspiration, or ingestion hazards because of small parts.
