My XRF testing experiences

So I tested all my products yesterday with an XRF gun. Everything came back super duper low except these vintage pearlized buttons I had a few pairs of - they failed miserably. DH made me put on gloves to remove them - not sure of that was necessary but I like to keep him happy.

All the fabric, all the trims, all the yarn, and all the eyes and buttons (except the aformentioned pair) had readings on 10 or less ppm.

I will be sending my results in to the CSPC request for comments on componant testing - from my results there is no need to test ANY fabric. I hope anyone else that has results will send them as well, as if they see the low numbers for these suppplies we all use maybe they will be more apt to look at the feasibility of componant testing.

now that allthenumbers has tested some of her items that she sells, and some embellishments and yarn, it is nice that we can know that we are not going to harm any children.

It is nice also to know that if we were ever to be dragged down to court that we are not poisioning any young children. it gives me a little piece of mind.

But did you see that not everything I tested passed?

I will not be venturing into the CPSIA forums any more, but if any of you have any questions for me regarding this please feel free to convo me. :)

onceupon, you cannot rely on someone else's testing to satisfy your "reasonable testing program". you must show due diligence.

Does anyone know of any testing center in New york? I had just started my new line of handmade children clothes :( and was trying to sale all previous stock at a very low price here in ETSY.
