The lab I contacted was happy to take my business.
That said, much will depend on the final ruling on component testing. I won't have to lab test the exempt materials I use. That leaves only a few components to have tested. And the XRF testing for lead paint study was just completed and published as well. It looks to me like if they can get a couple details worked out with the science and methodology that they may rule XRF testing to be viable in lieu of third-party testing. (THAT IS ONLY MY SPECULATION) I doubt that will come in time for February, but maybe I'll be surprised.
Anyway, the reality is that the testing labs won't see a big surge because most people will not do/cannot afford it. Companies will go out of business before having things tested. The big guns will have their own testing labs (Mattel and Walmart are examples of these) and much testing will occur in other countries where the manufacturing takes place. So, all that said, I doubt this will be of great concern.
