Okay, I tried to go thru the back posts and find some of the "instructions"
NO LARGER THAN 10 1/2 x10 1/2"
Smaller is fine, postcard or 4x4, 5x5 is okay too, I will fit them in.
Remember this is an art quilt designed for a wall, not for a bed. I need 1/2 inch on each side for trim and to sew together.
DO NOT include backing and batting.
You may send 1/4 yard or a fat quarter of black on black tonal fabric for sashing.
Don't send black with colored prints or florals.
We want the sashing to read black.

I've been giving this a lot of thought. I think it should be a collage of talents. I see samples of work stitched onto a square, small wooden toys either stitched on or in pockets (perhaps deadly phthlate laden clear vinyl ones. Beads, charms, felted, painted. I ....see a number of squares in colorless muslin, or natural tone on tone wool, felt or silk, devoid of color. I see a thin block of wood with no finish with a label woodburned or inked on the face with the batch number, date of manufacturer etc. I see the layout as moving from bright cheerful colors to getting more pastel and or greyed until it becomes colorless. Words printed, written in ink and embroidery, I see broken hearts and tears. Hmmm.....
I will make a list of everyone who would like to help and contribute.
Don't worry about the size so much, as long as it is not bigger than a piece of fabric 10 1/2 square. You may make any size smaller than that. I will be adding sashing, and if there are some very small ones, I might group them together.
Any colors are fine, but remember if you add something like wood/a stuffed toy/ or something really dimensional I will have to get the edges under the sewing machine.
For wood, either make a pocket/or drill a few small wholes so that it can be securely hand stitched on, and in case I have to remove it and resecure it for assembly of the quilt.
If you paint something don't make it too too stiff, or at least leave me a free edge wide enough to sew.
Words and pictures fabric transfered are great, as are painted, appliqued and embroidered. The only thing I think we should be sure that there are no "bad" words KWIM?
Anything goes remember this is to reflect you, and what you are feeling or what you make.
You may use wording if you want, just keep it g-rated

Warning>>>.Here is an outlet for your creativity>>>>If you want to BEEF , put it on fabric, if it is not x-rated , it will have a home in a quilt somehow. I need to talk to my friend who is connected to the Quaker community. And some of the most legendary quilters in the world. This is not just for quilters as it will not be a traditional quilt, more of a wall hanging. SO toys and handmade products are welcome elements to be incorporated in this piece.

If you would also send a card or paper with your name, store name, and if you would like to say something about your square, or about anything regarding this bill, Auntcindysattic said she will make a label for the back of the quilt. Just a sentence please.
If you would like to work your etsy name/logo in to your design as an element, I don't have a problem with it. I don't think you need to do this though, since there will be a label on the back, which is the normal way a quilt is signed.

A rag quilt won't work for this. This is going to be more of an assemblage quilt. A wall piece, not a bed quilt. Some are attaching toys, painting, appliquing, we hope all different media. And while the max size square is 10 1/2 " square, to finish at 10" you can make any size smaller than that. Whatever your heart desires, and wherever it leads you. Make a statement about your craft, do just what you feel comfortable doing.
If you like to do rag quilts, (I do to), then make a mini one, I think that would be neat, just leave me 1/2" all around so that I can sew it to another block

baparsell , I think we pretty much decided that the biggest square that you can make is 10x10 just to keep it simple. Anything under that is fine cause we are going to use black sashing to make the different sizes pieces work. Heck I would love to see a few testing bills screenprinted onto fabric and sewn into the quilt. OR how about the results of the testing as in DUH ,it has no lead!

Please convo me with questions, and I will give you my address to mail your square to. A suggestion was made to include a couple of strips of black on black printed cotton, that we can use for sashing for a scrappy look. If you have some or at the fabric store making a purchase and spot some, a 1/4 yard or less would be appreciated, even a fat quarter would work, but black tonal, please, no grey or other colors.
All artists are welcome to join in support even if you are not a children's product etsian. If this gets really big, we may have to make more than one, and maybe button it together or hook and loop tape it in sections.
Any suggestions are welcome.
