Its only $550 to test 1,000 items...if you can get it to China!

Here's the link to an article in a trade mag online:

http://my.packexpo.com/NST-10-50169576/Lead-Testing-Requirements-for-Kids-Goods-Coming-Soon.aspx?utm...

I'm starting to smell a rat...so for those businesses large enough to ship their goods to China or who are having their items made in China---they have absurdly low testing fees and plenty of testing centers BUT if you need to have testing done in the USA, there aren't enough facilities AND the cost is sometimes triple that amount, and for just ONE item....of course big box retailers(who predominantly manufacture in China) were quick to comply, its a drop in the bucket for them...of course.

Yeah, and then while all your stock is over there there's a group of people in the testing facility copying your designs to sell for less also... what else can they do to us?

A doll dress would be perceived as being for a child also, so that wouldn't save you.

I seriously cannot BELIEVE that our government would even accept testing certificates that came from China. Doesn't that just beat all?

How much you wanna bet, that even AFTER they test the Chinese-made products in China, some slip through and are found to contain lead anyway?

You KNOW that lead toys will still enter this country. That's the most infuriating part of this whole fiasco. For how overreaching it is, it's not even going to prevent lead tainted crap from coming into this country!!

AAAAHHHHH!

They'll be testing everything with outdated guns and lab materials so the tests won't even be accurate.

They'll probably just dump the contents of every box that comes to them on a conveyor belt and have someone standing every 10 feet or so to randomly shoot at it with an XRF gun.

They've gotta cut costs somehow right?

My hubby was talking a touch on this long ago...but this is his bit...mind you he's sleeping so it's not in his own words-be thankful he's very passionate about this stuff-
ANYHOW with our national debt our treasury just turns to other countries for money-Tbills ect. China is like the second leader in lending to the US...
SO he said he smelled a fish and it was between the US and China..think about it ...we owe them x amount of dollars by x date...they've taken over SO much of our production already, why not put another nail in the coffin....

I tried to find a good article but i'm tired but here is a link with the whole money lending issue

Re: Its only $550 to test 1,000 items...if you can get it to China!

And like the CPSC is really going to send auditors to China to investigate whether the batch numbers all match up, new samples were sent when the drum of liquid plastic ran out, etc. Basically the US govt is still taking the word of the foreign manufactures that everything is A-okay. No foreign produced toys will even get tested on US soil??? It makes no sense! Why doesn't the CPSC just set up a big huge govt lab that randomly selects and tests toys???? That's the only way to know if Barbie is lead free. Take my freaking squirrel pull toy and test it themselves. I'll pay the shipping. Random sampling scares the hell out of people. That's how the IRS enforces the internal revenue code. Fear of audits.

Why doesn't our government just save themselves all the run-around and wire 50% of everyone's paychecks directly to China until our "debt" is paid off. That's where it's all going anyway.

55 of the official testing labs will be located in Asia.

If Obama does what he said he was going to do and shuts down the coal plants in the US and has "clean" coal plants replace them, Biden has stated those new 'clean coal" plants will be built in China. American jobs lost to China.

By 2011 all bulbs must be the new florescent type, the only country currently allowing production of these is.....you guessed it.....China. (They are considered Hazardous material and must be handled in a very specific way if they break).

There was a politician addressing his fellow politicians and begging them to not pass the law banning all bulbs but florescent, he was ignored, he was a Republican.

:::thud:::

I really just need to have my items made in China. It would be so much more profitable.

Plus, then I could actually get ahold of some lead paint if I needed to save money. I asked at Michaels. They don't sell it there.

(totally being sarcastic, in case it wasn't obvious)

I'm still sick my hubby was somewhat right. Nah it can't be true?! Ugh.
This takes me back to the day in a store long ago...when he bet me $500 I couldn't find something made in the USA in that store. I lost-China won.

Why am I not surprised to hear about coal plants and light bulb manufacturers moving to China. Is there any hope?

As much as I've tried to boycott items from China..
it's just not possible...

so many times there is an element or ingredient from china and the tag will never tell you that.
(and sometimes it does, but I'll need something in a hurry, grab and buy, and after I've used it for a few weeks, realize it says "made in china".)

"Please sir, some more spankings please...."
