I'm starting to smell a rat...so for those businesses large enough to ship their goods to China or who are having their items made in China---they have absurdly low testing fees and plenty of testing centers BUT if you need to have testing done in the USA, there aren't enough facilities AND the cost is sometimes triple that amount, and for just ONE item....of course big box retailers(who predominantly manufacture in China) were quick to comply, its a drop in the bucket for them...of course.

the CPSIA has stated that disclaimers to not release you from compliance. You still have to have your items tested. It is any item that is perceived to be for a child 12 or under.

I would not give them my money to test my stuff for lead. They will be getting all the money to make the stuff that gets sold over here as it is. No sending anything to china for testing. I won't even ship there, my postmaster told me three years ago not to. So I have not, even posted that on my ebay too.

There are some who started a class action lawsuit over the CPSIA law.

It doesn't sound so stupid now-although big brother would most likely win but I smell the fishiness in the air and it STINKS BAD! I don't care how much money we owe China...they started this problem, so to repay them we'll a. continue to trust them to send their tainted products to the US for our children. b. shut down millions of American small businesses to give their companies even MORE business...and c.watch our country crumble more and more.
I don't care if China pressures the US over the money owed and the interest rate on it. We're in debt...FIND A BETTER WAY TO DEAL WITH IT...I stay let's start by eliminating the CPSIA hahahahaha

I wouldn't trust the results. They have already sent so much to us filled with lead, why wouldn't they just say that it was OK.

My girls have dolls the size of newborn all the way up to about 2T (the life size ones).

I'll model on the dolls & market to "dolls". Dress your little doll in this cutie!

BUT, we are still making something that will "APPEAL" to a child, so we'll still be held accountable. One way or another, it'll bite us unless someone does something to fix this mess.

Yes, matsutake.....I saw your Martha segment & news segment also. I'm so sorry.

I started making a conscious effort to avoid "made in china" when the first scare came along. So far, they're trying to poison our kids, our dogs, and now the drywall is coming up bad. What next?

I'm telling you, our government is doing TOO MUCH to protect that country. They are going to ruin our country trying to protect that one (and the huge companies utilizing them to make a BIGGER BUCK).

It just makes me mad.
