Is this all about lead?

This might be a silly question, but is this new law only dealing with lead levels - if so, if you are using products that do not contain lead (confirmed and stated by the manufacturer) are you OK as long as you still use tracking labels etc?

I am talking in particular about Permaset Aqua inks that I use on my baby garments: http://www.colormaker.com.au/_product_45925/Permaset

I think the whole issue is whether or not it is OK to go with the manufacturer's word or to make the crafter retest the products... I'm sure someone knows more than I do...

By that I mean, right now it looks like they're trying to make the small business retest the products, so we'd like them to reform the law so that the manufacturer's word on all the individual parts is good enough

Re: Is this all about lead?

The law deals with lead and phthalate content. For now holding a GCC from the manufacturer stating compliance is okay, but unless the law changes, anything that isn't exempt will need to be tested by the crafter. I meant 'after Feb. 2010 anything that isn't exempt'...
