Let's try to keep track of which states are being covered.

I just tried to call both of mine (IL)and the one's voicemail said it was full and hung up on me. The other said they are experiencing "high call volume". I somehow think it's probably related to all the other problems IL has been having lately, but I will try again a bit later. Meanwhile, I sent an email.

Let's take a roll call - who's called their Senators about Sen. DeMint' new legislation being introduced to revise the CPSIA tomorrow and what state are you from?

sent two snail mails and an email since this hit the fan in December... sent another email last night.

can't get through on the phone today... tried.

I'm in Wisconsin.
I'm hopeful that my Senators are as smart as everyone's always said they were... and they've gotten the clue I keep trying to send them.

Rep. John Tierney - got back the same email as the last time I contacted him, I guess it's a form letter. :-(

I haven't had luck w/my senators (voice mail full) but DID manage to send links and articulate my thoughts to my Representative's aide who's been working to "shake some trees" and "get some clarity."

I know it's not quite the same, but I'm in MD. Perhaps tomorrow I'll try to give it another go, altho snow is on the way and people may well not be in. :-/

Couldn't get through to Senator Webb's office (line was busy constantly), but I left a message on the comment line.

It's disappointing that so many of us can't get through today. But we HAVE been bombarding our reps offices for at least 2 months now, so hopefully they will remember that when the legislation gets introduced tomorrow.

I left a message for Senator Bayh (Indiana) and talked to someone in Senator Lugar's office. He didn't seem to know much about the CPSIA, so I educated him a bit, especially the part where the law assumes that lead is magically created when you sew two pieces of fabric together. Then I told him I have a Chemical Engineering degree from Purdue & I would have likely remembered them mentioning something like that :) It got the guy to laugh a bit - hopefully he'll remember!
