Have no clue where to start! Please help!!

Hi! So I've just started making baby shoes, scarves, hats and plan on making pants too. I've gone through the CPSIA website and their links, have looked through for information about clothing flammability, read about leather labeling and just about everything else... And I'm even more confused now then when I started. I have no idea what I need to do and what needs to be tested and what is allowed. My mind is exploding. So if anyone could help that'd be great!

I plan on making:
- crocheted wool booties with scrap leather soles
-shoes using scrap leather and other scrap fabrics with leather or cotton cord tie closures and cotton floss hand stitching
-knit wool circle scarves & knit wool straight length scarves with pompoms on the ends
-knit/ crocheted wool or cotton hats with pompoms on top and a ribbon to tie under the neck
-upcycled/recycled fabric hats with ribbon tie under neck
-knit wool or other natural fiber pants with a ribbon tie at the waist

Sorry I know that's a lot. Any help would be appreciated ( especially if it's not all the legal jargon talk I've read on the websites )

Step 1. Register as a small batch manufacturer. There is no cost. If you don't, you will have to test for some things, Dyed leather would need testing at your expense. If you are registered, you can use statements from the leather suppliers of their testing.

2.. you are going to need CPSIA labels and FTC labels. Since you are using wool, wool labeling is also mandatory even if you do not normally need FTC labels.

3.. Do not use ties at the waistline, use encased elastic. Children under 16 can't have drawstrings or ties at necklines and waists except under strict length and attachment guideline. Drawstrings are generally the biggest issue for clothing recalls. Just don't, find another method. Ties can get caught in stroller wheels, car doors, highchairs, cribs, ride on toys, etc.

4. Get used to the legal jargon. It will be a part of your business life. If you have a specific wording you don't understand. Copy paste it and I will try to explain it as it applies to your items. It would help me if you could convo me pictures of examples of what you are going to make.

4.

Thanks for your help. I'm just thinking now more than ever that I won't be able to fully understand everything I would need to do to comply with every regulation. Let alone afford third party testing on every piece of my scrap fabrics if everything needs to be tested.
