Has anyone done any testing?

Has anyone does any testing for any of their products? Or, are you planning on doing any testing?

If so, any suggestions as to where to get it done?

Re: Has anyone done any testing?

Yes, I had XRF testing done on all my components. Note that this is not acceptable after February. At that point, third party testing from a CPSC approved lab is required.

I used this company for my XRF testing:

I blogged about my testing experience back in January:

Re: Has anyone done any testing?

Thanks! I was actually looking into 3rd party testing - do you know who you'll use then?

Re: Has anyone done any testing?

I haven't tested yet, it's just too expensive. I'm waiting until it's required next year, assuming I can afford to test and continue to make toys. Still hoping reason will prevail.

Not sure that I will do testing. I hope to just keep sewing and hope for the best.

Re: Has anyone done any testing?

There is no way I can do 3rd party testing, unless they allow for component testing and then MAYBE I can do it. It's simply unfeasable for my business both financially and due to the products I create (too many variables)

Re: Has anyone done any testing?

I'm with BuggaLove - too many variations of different products (hence the fun of handmade!), and there would be no way I could test every product.

RMDCreations: I'm hoping reason will prevail as well.

Re: Has anyone done any testing?

I did xrf testing on my components. There was a group organized by a fellow Estian and I sent my items to her and received a report back.

If they don't change the requirements by 02/2010, it will be so difficult for handmade items to comply. If they don't allow component testing or supplier certs as proof, then I will change my design to include only exempt fabrics, no buckles or zippers.

Re: Has anyone done any testing?

Those of you who say that you're just continuing on, and hoping for the best... is the info that you're finding saying that its ok if the stuff was made before the August date? I'm so confused by all of this.

Myblessed, I don't think that the exemptions are permanant. Unless someone knows differently? And we don't know what the new head commissioner and the other commissioner will accept and how they will change things.
