Flame Retardant Fabric for Pajamas?

Does anyone have any insight on this? I've been looking for cozy fabric to make children's pajamas to sell. I make pjs for my kids and don't use flame retardant fabric for them. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

Re: Flame Retardant Fabric for Pajamas?

I believe that if you're making jammies for your own kids and aren't going to sell them, you can use any fabric you like. But if you're going to sell them, you must follow FCC law that states any sleepwear up to childrens size 14 must either be flame retardant or snug fitting.

The only place I've found flame retardant fabric (and some of it is extremely soft and cozy!) is at JoAnn Fabrics. Their brick & morter store .. not the on-line store.

Hope that helps!

All I know about this is if it's not safe for children's sleepwear, it says so right on the selvage. "Not to be used for children's sleepwear" is usually how it reads. You can always ask the store employees if you're not sure.

If it isn't flame retardant, it must state that it is not. That's how Wally World does theirs, at any rate.

Re: Flame Retardant Fabric for Pajamas?

Blah! We have a JoAnn Fabric here. I have just been trying to find some online just to price and I'm coming up with NOTHING. So, I guess I'll just dig deeper in JoAnn Fabrics. It does clearly state on the end that it shouldn't be used for children's pajamas and usually the only stuff that I have seen has been like quilting material. Thanks everybody for your answers! I appreciate it!
