EVERYTHING you need to know about the CPSIA

Lots of folks are just discovering how the CPSIA affects them. This post is intended to help you find the info you need all in one place.

If you make any product intended for children ages 12 and under, you need to read this thread. In it you will find important links to give you information straight from the source, the CPSC.

First of all, you can go to the CPSC website and add yourself to their email list so that you will get all the updated information directly to your email. This is very helpful, as the CPSC issues new statements and guidelines quite often. You won't have to search for the answers because they come directly to your email!

off subject somewhat but I have to say I miss all the baby clothes shops I had hearted to go back to buy from. I went to go shopping for our new grandson due in September and all the shops I had been saving to go back to were gone! I hope you all come back soon!

Okay- plastic buttons are out, right? I think that is the only thing I have to worry about at the moment but want to be sure. I'm making a pile of animals to send to a brick and mortar and let me tell you, I would much rather use buttons than cut out a ton of tiny wool felt circles... Sigh.

Here's a new document. It's super long, but worth skimming through. Much of it deals with rulemakings for exempt materials. They also seem to say that they
will be coming out with some info on component testing. It's a draft document that needs to be voted on I think, but has lots of info on exempt materials. Looks like they will be permanently exempt and not require testing come February.
