I was actually wondering if bleaching items for a design are against CPSIA rules. I have looked through the regulations and I didn't see anything against. Usually I wash my fabrics in Dreft before I complete and Item anyway. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't think so, especially if you wash before selling. I wouldn't think it's any different than washing material before making something to sell. You are not adding anything to it, all the bleach washes out.

I would agree with Leah. I also did not see anything in the regs about this. And if you are following the bleach treatment with another wash, there will not be any bleach left in the product at all. I was not familiar with Dreft until I just no googled it, and will have to try that out for my clothes too! I have such allergies to detergents it is ridiculous!

Thank You! This is very helpful to my creative process! Dreft is a little pricey but its great! I used to work in childcare and the best companies used it on their baby blankets and sheets! Now I know that dyed fabric and non-dyed fabric are exempt. Does it make a difference if I dye fabric myself?

I would think that the dye you use would have to be tested and compliant. www.dharmatrading.com has a statement about the dyes that they sell. Maybe that will help.

We used the non tide tide lol,
dreft didn't have an HE form when we had our 1st so we got use to getting that idk if it's any cheaper probably pretty simular in price but if it is cheaper we liked that :)
