I am SO confused!!

For my CPSIA labels I have:
my business name and contact info.
Care instructions
What the shirts are made of (cotton and polyester)
DOM
Batch # info

What do I need on my FTC labels? I read the FTC website info and I'm still confused. Where do I put the FTC label and what is supposed to go on it????????

Re: CPSIA labels AND FTC labels?????

Apparently I was an idiot and didn't realize all this stuff had already taken place. I'm ready to try and sell my brand spankin' new machine and give up. Okay, am I supposed to keep a list of every manufacturer, etc. for every piece of fabric I have? What do I do about things like scrap bags? I bought a lot of them because I need little pieces and they come in handy.

Re: CPSIA labels AND FTC labels?????

Cotton fabric is exempt...non-metallic fabric and non-metallic thread is also exempt.

You do need to know what the fabric is made of and have that on your labels (ex: 100% cotton or 90% cotton, 10% nylon)

You can check out the FTC website on how to label when you are unsure of hte fiber contet of your material...

Remember you will need both FTC and CPSIA labels

The FTC does allow for scrap use. You are allowed to say something like Made of remnants/scraps or recycled fabric fiber content unknown. I think wool is different though, even if it is recycled or scrap. Since fabrics and textiles do not need to be tested for CPSIA purposes, I think you are ok except for your notions and fasteners.

Re: CPSIA labels AND FTC labels?????

It is not at bad as it looks. I have been labeling for a whole year now and once you get it straight its not hard to follow. I have labels that I write in the date of manufacture with a laundry pen. I only buy one type of label, but I use it for both CPSIA and FTC. On the FTC label I write the content and washing instructions and on my CPSIA I write the DOM. It doesn't cost that much, and as long as I don't use wool I don't even need the FTC label.

Re: CPSIA labels AND FTC labels?????

Just a question...I heard felt was exempt (the eco-fi), is fleece exempt?

Where are these labels to go? It'll make the "handmade" items look like the store stuff with the tags sticking out everywhere! Seriously...maybe thats what they want

Re: CPSIA labels AND FTC labels?????

So, I'm confused. How do I have to label my product if I market to all age groups? I have my own simple tag on my bears that I did with iron on transfers. Do I have to figure out a different way? If I only marketed to adults would it change anything? Please help!

Re: CPSIA labels AND FTC labels?????

If your bears are marketed to children 12 and under you have to label with CPSIA labels and FTC labels if they apply. Both labels need to have all the required info. and be permanently attached (though some FTC labels may be a hang tag)....

Re: CPSIA labels AND FTC labels?????

Silly (and maybe repetitive) question... is this ONLY for children/baby items? What about young adults, teens?
Thanks for any help
