CPSIA New Labeling Requirement

I know we are all rightfully stressed about the upcoming lead testing requirement, but is anyone concerned about the new labeling requirement also taking effect In August 09? For instance, our garment labels will now have to state the date of manufacture, lot or batch info, etc, etc, and I am just wondering how those of us who are planning to test and stay in business will address this other requirement? It seems like most of us make our items to order, so how are we supposed to have premade garment labels with the DATE of manufacture? Labels typically have to be ordered in bulk, so I guess we could order mass quantities of labels with every month of the year printed on them? Pretty costly and wasteful, unless you are lucky enough to be selling hundreds of items every month! :-) And these cannot be handmade hangtags...they have to be permanently attached to the garment. Just looking for ideas...:-)

Yes. I can't imagine how I'd affix a permanent label with all that info to a tiny doll.

shoot with all that information the label will be bigger then the item what were they thinking of? Oh duh these are politicians

So much to worry about!! If your item is one of a kind, how can you put a batch no?

I'm stuck on the lot or batch info. Ummm...I don't have lots or batches. It makes me wonder if they expect some sort of crazy record keeping...like keeping track of what, specifically, went into each item. Are we allowed to throw away a bottle of paint when it's empty or do I have to save it for future reference.

This is, of course, only relevant if I get to stay in business doing what I do.

At the risk of sounding stupid, this applies for children's hair accessories as well? Does this include selling at craft shows as well?

Since I have been building up my inventory before I even start selling this new law is effecting me hard.
What I was planning on doing was, placing a tag, with the company information and include a certificate of authenticity. Stating when it was made, where it was made, etc. and then keep a copy in my records in a spread sheet or something.
