My mother worked for a city municpality for 30 years and they bought chemicals. For every chemical purchased, they had to receive a document (MSDS sheet) from the manufacture that had all the ingrediants in that chemical and how it can be used and what happens if it's ingested.
This was for EVERY chemical, down to white-out.
What if this were required for the supplies we buy to create children's items? If you make clothing, than then with your fabric would be sent a certification that it had been tested and is safe for use.
Same with paint used for children's toys, or yarn ... everything.
This would put the burden on the manufacturer, not the small businesses.
I believe this may already be part of the "thinking" process of the government, but who really knows!
Just thought I'd share some hope...
