I will say, in terms of what jean is saying, that I don't doubt this was primarily democrat supported. But I also don't think it is a stupid law. What is unfortunate about it is the damage it will do to smaller manufacturers and makers, which I am quite sure was not the intent of the bill. Now if they could just find some way around that without leaving a gazillion loopholes for unscrupulous businesses to walk through. Which is what I think is probably holding them back. I mean, you can't say that a small manufacturer in the US can make X without testing but an importer can't import the same number from wherever. And you can't say, for example, toys and clothing from US, Canada, Europe, Australia, and South America are fine. But any Asian companies, no no, we must test those. So I would think this is part of the problem they are having, feeling they must either keep the law largely intact, or it will become essentially meaningless.
