1 of CPSC AGE DETERMINATION GUIDELINES can you find more for other products

Ok after much searching I have found one of the "AGE DETERMINATION GUIDELINES" this one is only for "Relating Children’s Ages To Toy Characteristics and Play Behavior". So in my opinion this is what the CPSC will use to define what they consider toys.

It is 313 pages of descriptions broken down by a child's age of what criteria the government uses to determine if your products are considered toys.

I'm still looking for the age determination guidelines for other children's product lines such as furniture, clothing, eductional aids, jewelry, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

I saw that before, and I was confused as to what exactly it means. Are those criteria that the government uses to determine IF a product is a toy...or is it criteria that must be met if a product is marketed to children?

That is one of the four criteria used to determine if you have a children's product.

SugarAndSpice ... excellent question! All I can think of that this is one of the 2002 age guidelines that they refer to in the FAQ's section when they try to give us the definition of children's products. The funny thing is that it was actually published / posted Jan 2003 not Sept 2002, that 's what through me when I did the seacrch for the publication.

These government pdf files ALWAYS make my computer crash! I wish I could read it...

fairiesnest ... I wish that I could find you a different file format to view the document. I've seen some PDF's that allow you to send the contents as e-mail, but this one only allows an Acrobat Connect Meeting (whatever the heck that is)to share the document.

yeah, a lot of the govt files are only in pdf - I get all the CPSIA updates and the federal housing updates sent to be, and they usually come as pdf unless they are really short and can be sent in the body of the email as text. I use photoshop to open mine, but I had to go and change my preferences to do that.

I guess everyone interested in this post is trying to shovel through the 313 pages to figure out if this applies to them.

Still looking for more government guidelines and definitions. It would be nice if they used ones we're all familiar with or tells us which dictionary they are using.
