Artist's statement?

I am having my first showing this weekend and it is a month long exhibition. I need to write an artist's statement i'm having trouble with it. Does anyone have any tips?

Here are a few tips for coming up with clever descriptions of your work:

-ask friends to write down how they would describe your work and ask if you can use some of their adjectives in your statement

-discuss materials, technique, and meaning

-the more personal (speaking with your own voice), the more memorable - be as original as your artwork

-keep it short and sweet (three paragraphs, intro/body/conclusion) tend to really grab people's attention rather than bore them to death
