What countries scan delivery for USPS Priority Mail Int'l?

When I started selling hoops I sold internationally for about a year. In this time about 20% of the packages never arrived (mostly Canadian packages). Because the delivery confirmation wasn't available I was forced to refund the item cost and the shipping cost (around $40USD)... totalling hundreds of dollars a month... I couldn't afford the refunds any more so I quite shipping internationally.

I only ever shipped USPS Priority Mail international but they claimed that because it was out of the country it couldn't be scanned delivered so there was no way to claim insurance. Then etsy forced me to refund as well because there was no proof of delivery.

I have so many people requesting international shipping again and I am losing out on all these clients! Its so annoying!

What countries scan delivery confirmation? I never had any problems with Asia,. Australia or EU... Has anyone else?

Apparently Canada Post now scans all First Class and Priority Mail packages. That being said, I've still had some challenges with things not arriving in Canada, even with scanned tracking. The USPS claims there's no way to file a lost mail claim, or issue insurance claim on ANY package weighing under 4lbs- even if it's Priority Mail. I'm not sure what happens if you buy insurance outside of the Priority Mail $$. I spent a long time with the 800# folks and spoke with several people, but there was no traction.

Might be worth looking into Fed Ex. Costly, but it gets there in just a few days and fully certified the whole.

Apparently first class mail now offers tracking to Australia as well as Canada. I haven't checked in with my other international orders, but hopefully tracking is becoming more and more available for international shipment.

I've had tracking updated for UK, Aus, Canada, Germany and France. Those are also the only countries I've shipped to beyond domestically.

Where did you find which countries will have tracking and which kind of shipping did you use? Just spent 2 hours on line with the post office and don't see any affordable methods to ship.

Also when I look up Priority international mail on line it states no tracking is available.

You get different service when you use online shipping labels (like the ones through USPS.com, Paypal, Endicia, Etsy...). Here's where you can see the tracking availability:

Don't feel bad about not finding the info--I spent half an hour on the phone last week educated one of their own 1-800-ask-usps workers about it, and her supervisor! Had to show her that page page and everything. :)
