International Delivery Confirmation Available through USPS!!

I just had an update on a package sent from US to UK and it confirmed the delivery! USPS International 1st class. When did this service begin? I must have missed something!

I have had a few First Class International packages track all the way to delivery over the years so maybe this was just a lucky package. I just checked several from the last 30 days, none of mine show anything outside the US.

You can get "delivery confirmation" on international packages - if you send them Registered Mail with a Return Receipt. Those two services will set you back $11.75 and $2.35, respectively. Probably only worth it on high end items.

My last USPS First Class International shipment to Canada never arrived and the post office could not give me any information on its location. I have another order ready to ship to Toronto and am uncertain as to how to send it. My quote from UPS was $73- definitely not an option. Priority Mail is also expensive, I think. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Items over about $20 to Canada will often owe taxes if it gets stopped by customs--it's possible your buyer didn't realize and never went to pay it.

The kind for Priority that has any international tracking is the regular by-weight service and the medium & large flat rate boxes. That starts at $23.25 for Canada. There's no guarantee it'll track, but it's more likely than First Class International.


You can try a third-party insurer (just a few dollars) &/or registered mail ($11.75) for a less expensive than Priority but also protective option.

Thanks for the advice. Can you recommend a third party insurer? I started to set up on shipinsurance.com but they wanted total access to my etsy account which I was reluctant to give.

You can use shipsurance one mailing at a time without giving them access to anything except your payment.

U-Pic is another insurer. Etsy uses them, but you get a discount buying through Etsy.
